Hmmm...how to start this out...Hi anyone who might be reading. This is my Newgrounds page, but you should have already known that. I got an account a while ago but am just now really setting it up. My name's Billy, but you can call me Devro. I'm a sophmore in highschool interested in animating, art, math, music, programming, gaming, computers, and debate. In my spare time I spend time on the internet, play video games (Wii, 360, PS2), and hang out with friends (usually working on debate or getting food).
Now that the formalities are over, let's get onto the pressing topics at hand: the new Indiana Jones movie. I was thinking about that today, mainly about how there has been no promotion at all, or any news really talking about it since the title was announced. It's supposed to come out sometime next year, so you'd think they might be overing some news or anything.
I'm sure the next matter to be discussed is obviously the reprisal of Harrison Ford as Indy. A freakin' sixty-four year old playing an athletic, adventurous, girl-seducing, college professor/archaeologist. Something doesn't fit. I think MAD mag put it the best with their teaser poster of the new movie: Indiana Jones and those Damn Kids in my Yard Again!
Seriously, though, folks, the actual teaser poster is a joke. It's a painting of Ford as Indy, but it's a painting of him from the first film, just about. He looks like he did twenty, thirty years ago. The least they could do is maybe throw a few specks of gray paint in for the hair, for Christ's sake. I'm wondering, though, is he supposed to be playing a sixty-four year old, or a thirty year old in the film. I take it with a million dollar special effects crew that could make him look in his mid-thirties, but I hope they find a better use for the money.
I don't know if it was just me, but I actually wasn't too fond of the last Jones movie, the Last Crusade. I haven't seen it in a while, but I remember it boring me. The first two, though, I could watch over and over. I don't know what turned me off in the third one, but I just didn't like it, except for Sean Connery being in it.
Im just really hoping they don't mess this one up. Look at it this way: The franchise has one last shot with this movie. Best case scenario: The movie does great, leading up to perhaps another sequel, but at least ending on a good note. Worst case scenario: The movie flops, turning the whole series into a piece of shit (ummm...oh crap, I can't think of any example of something that did this...Matrix maybe, or Terminator...no Terminator was ruined by the second one...)
All we can really do is hope. Theres no release as to when it will come in 2008, so cross your fingers and keep them crossed.
PS I was just informed that Jurrasic Park IV was pushed back another year because of the writers strike. Are there really not any other creative people in America than them?
